New Humble Community School
Job Details
New Humble Community School (NHCS) is a growing K–Grade 9 public charter school located just south of Calmar, Alberta. NHCS is inviting applications for a dedicated and dependable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Custodian beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
At NHCS, education looks different—and that is intentional. Our approach is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, where agriculture and environmental stewardship shape how students learn. From outdoor classrooms and barnyard lessons to real-world problem solving, students do not just learn; they live their learning.
We are seeking an individual who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting a positive learning environment for students and staff. This part-time position is scheduled for 5 hours per day, primarily on student instructional days.
Reporting to the Full-Time Custodian and working collaboratively with school staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, washrooms, common areas, and other school spaces
Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and general facility upkeep
Emptying garbage and recycling receptacles
Assisting with minor grounds maintenance and snow removal as required
Monitoring custodial supplies and reporting maintenance concerns
Supporting school security by conducting routine building checks
Other related duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Previous custodial or facility maintenance experience is considered an asset
Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe environment
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and WHMIS is an asset
Ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff
Interested applicants can apply by emailing Amanda Clark, Principal of NHCS, at Amanda.Clark@NewHumbleSchool.ca. The application must include a cover letter and resume outlining their qualifications and experiences, as well as contact information for at least two references. As a condition of employment, new employees are required to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check. This competition is open until a suitable candidate is found.
New Humble Community School thanks you for your interest, however, only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
