Principal Position
New Humble Community School
Job Details
New Humble Community School (NHCS) is a growing K-Grade 9 public charter school just south of Calmar, Alberta. NHCS is inviting applications for an inspired and passionate leader to join our team as the school principal. At NHCS, education looks different and that is intentional. Our approach is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, where agriculture and environmental stewardship shape how students learn. From outdoor classrooms and barnyard lessons to real world problem solving, students don't just learn, they live their learning.
We are looking for a principal who shares this vision. Someone who believes that curiosity should lead the way, that learning extends beyond four walls and that meaningful connections to the land, animals, community and each other are the heart of education. The primary focus of this position is to provide effective and inspiring leadership to the staff and students of the school. This 1.0 FTE position may include some minimal teaching duties, and will commence at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the successful candidate will:
Lead high-quality instructional practices in planning, delivery, and assessment to support student learning
Inspire staff and students to achieve excellence academically, socially, and personally
Champion a unique learning experience through agriculture, environment, and stewardship as vehicles for experiential, hands-on learning
Foster a shared commitment to Charter goals throughout the school community
Lead and support a collaborative professional learning community focused on improving practice and student outcomes
Create a positive, respectful, and cooperative work environment
Cultivate strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader school community
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate and eligibility for Alberta Leadership Certification
A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
Previous school leadership experience is considered an asset
A Master of Education degree is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to meet Alberta Education’s Leadership Quality Standard
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
A demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional growth
Interested applicants can apply by emailing Bill Driedger, Superintendent of NHCS, at bill.driedger@newhumbleschool.ca. The application must include a cover letter, resume, and contact information for at least two professional references. As a condition of employment, new employees are required to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check. This competition closes on May 13, 2026.
New Humble Community School thanks you for your interest, however, only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
