Educational Assistant - Temporary Position

New Humble Community School (NHCS) is a growing K-Grade 9 public charter school just south of Calmar, Alberta. NHCS is inviting applications for an inspired and passionate educational assistant to join our team for a temporary position at the elementary level. At NHCS, education looks different and that is intentional. Our approach is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, where agriculture and environmental stewardship shape how students learn. From outdoor classrooms and barnyard lessons to real world problem solving, students don't just learn, they live their learning.


We are looking for an educational assistant who shares this vision. Someone who believes that curiosity should lead the way, that learning extends beyond four walls and that meaningful connections to the land, animals, community and each other are the heart of education. The primary focus of this position is to support students in an elementary classroom. This temporary fulltime position will commence as soon as a suitable candidate is selected and and continue until the end of the 2025/2026 school year.


Under the supervision of the teacher, the successful candidate will:  

  • Nurture strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community

  • Provide supports for students in the classroom as guided by the classroom teacher

  • Assist in preparing material, creating displays and undertaking other supportive activities

  • Work within established structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and IPP requirements

  • Implement strategies, specific techniques, and activities as directed by the teacher

  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the teacher and principal


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a school setting is an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to student learning and success

Grade 3 Teacher - Temporary Position

We are looking for an educator who shares this vision. Someone who believes that curiosity should lead the way, that learning extends beyond four walls and that meaningful connections to the land, animals, community and each other are the heart of education. This maternity position will commence on or before May 4, 2026, and continue until the end of April the 2026/2027 school year pending the return date of the teacher.


Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful candidate will:  

  • Ensure effective planning, instruction and assessment for students

  • Develop and nurture a positive, hands-on and experiential learning environment

  • Create the classroom conditions for students to achieve the outcomes as outlined in the Alberta Curriculum and meet Charter Goals

  • Work collaboratively as a member of a professional learning community

  • Nurture strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

  • Previous experience teaching the assigned courses/subjects is an asset

  • The ability to achieve Alberta Education’s Teaching Quality Standards

  • The ability to provide programming in an environment that connects to the land, animals and community

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional improvement

Elementary Teacher - Part-time Temporary Position

NHCS is inviting applications for an inspired and passionate educator to join our team for a temporary position at the elementary level. At NHCS, education looks different and that is intentional. Our approach is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, where agriculture and environmental stewardship shape how students learn. From outdoor classrooms and barnyard lessons to real world problem solving, students don't just learn, they live their learning.


We are looking for an educator who shares this vision. Someone who believes that curiosity should lead the way, that learning extends beyond four walls and that meaningful connections to the land, animals, community and each other are the heart of education. The primary focus of this position is to provide targeted literacy and numeracy instruction to elementary students. This 0.6 FTE position will commence as soon as a suitable candidate is selected and and continue until the end of the 2025/2026 school year.


Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful candidate will:  

  • Provide literacy and numeracy targeted programming to elementary students

  • Ensure effective planning, instruction and assessment for students

  • Develop and nurture a positive, hands-on and experiential learning environment

  • Create the classroom conditions for students to achieve the outcomes as outlined in the Alberta Curriculum and meet Charter Goals

  • Work collaboratively as a member of a professional learning community

  • Nurture strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

  • Previous experience providing numeracy and literacy instruction is an asset

  • The ability to achieve Alberta Education’s Teaching Quality Standards

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional improvement
