Reporting to: the Superintendent and serves as Secretary-Treasurer to the Board of Directors
New Humble Community School is a growing public Charter School projecting a population of 200 students for 2025-2026 school year. The school offers a unique learning experience through the use of agriculture, environment and stewardship as an instrument for experiential, hands-on learning. The school will be entering into its fifth year of operation in 2025-2026.
The Secretary- Treasurer provides leadership and vision for financial and facility planning, and reports to the Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for all accounting processes and operations which align with the Education Act, NHCSA by-laws, policies and administrative procedures. Experience working within the educational environment would be an asset but not a necessity.
About the Role:
1: Budgeting and Planning:
The successful candidate will lead the Board of Directors in the planning and development of the school’s budget. The individual will provide enrollment projections to inform the board of trends and factors that will affect the financial picture of the board. You will work closely with the Superintendent and the Principal ensuring budget allocations align with the board’s approved budget.
2: Financial Reporting:
The successful candidate will report as required to Alberta Education ensuring available funding to the school is accessed. The Secretary-Treasurer will report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis as to the status of the budget.
3. Leading the Capital Plan
The Secretary-Treasurer will lead the development of the annual Capital Plan with assistance from the Board of Directors and Superintendent. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board and Superintendent when capital projects for the school are approved.l
4: Collaboration and Communication:
You will work collaboratively as a member of the administration team, providing support to the Board, attending all regular and special meetings of the Board and if applicable, committee meetings. Strong relationships with the teaching and support staff will need to be developed.
